Petition launched in opposition to La Grande Mare pylons

Tuesday 20 June 2023

A petition has been launched in opposition to the 30-metre-high pylons at La Grande Mare, with more than 100 signatures already.

The pylons have been erected as part of the multi-million pound redevelopment of La Grande Mare golf course, and will support netting around the driving range.

The tall structures have received criticism not only from people who live nearby but politicians too.

Now a petition has been launched by Sheena Annan on change.org

More than 100 people have signed the petition so far and dozens of people have voiced their concern.

“It’s a monstrosity,” said one person, “I think it’s obvious why I’m signing.”

A second person said “they are completely spoiling the area”.

The President of the Development and Planning Authority has been reported to have said that the pylons are “awful but that planning permission would not be revoked.
