Changes to the parking layout at La Vallette are being trialled.
The new layout allows drivers to park at an angle, by driving forward into spaces, as opposed to the parallel parking arrangements that were previously in place.
By making these changes, Traffic & Highway Services Director Karl Guille said the short-term parking is increased by four spaces.
“We’re very conscious of how popular the bathing pools are for recreational activity all year round. We want to make the very best use of the available space in the area and we really hope that these changes to the parking will be of benefit to regular users.”
Helen Bonner-Morgan from Vive La Vallette views the changes as a creative solution to the limited space available.
"Sea swimming provides huge benefits to peoples’ physical, mental health and wellbeing so it is great to see improvements to parking provision for anyone unable to access the facilities through active travel methods or public transport.
"We would like to thank those involved for listening to the public’s concerns about short-term parking at La Vallette and we look forward to working with the States when seeking sensible solutions, as they arise, during this long-term, community-focused project.”
At this stage, the changes have been made on a trial basis only, in order to monitor the effectiveness of the new parking layout and seek feedback.
