Over £1m distributed from local donation site

A platform that allows the public to donate money to members of the Association of Guernsey Charities has now seen more than £1,000,000 pass through it to over 100 beneficiaries.

Giving.gg was launched in 2016 to give islanders a way to quickly donate to charitable organisations in the Bailiwick.

This week the milestone of £1m was passed, which the website says “underscores the profound impact of collective generosity in our community.

The funds disbursed through Giving.gg have been a catalyst for positive change, benefiting individuals and initiatives across various spheres.”

Charities participating in the platform opt in enabling them to receive general donations, and special events to raise funds for specific causes.

Wayne Bulpitt, Chair at Association of Guernsey Charites, said: "The steadfast support from donors and the dedication of our Charities have made this achievement possible. The £1,014,920.00 distributed exemplifies the power of local giving to drive meaningful change within our community."

The platform has plans to expand and allow more charities and donors to continue contributing to the community.
