Guernsey Police have arrested one person and are appealing for witnesses after an accident which left the coast road at Vazon shut for more than four hours on Monday evening.
Road Policing Sergeant Tom Marshall told Express there were injuries reported but none are life threatening. One person was taken to hospital.
The collision outside the Waves Apartments was reported shortly after 16:30 when the road was closed to all traffic and pedestrians.
All three of the emergency services were called to deal with the situation initially with police cars blocking the road to all passers by.
Pedestrians passing the area at nearly 19:00 were asked to walk another way while work in the area continued. The road was expected to reopen at around 21:00.
Sergeant Marshall said enquiries are continuing and any witnesses should call Guernsey Police on 725111 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
In an updated statement Guernsey Police added:
"Police enquiries are continuing into the Road Traffic Collision at Vazon yesterday afternoon. A number of witnesses have come forward, and we would like to thank members of the public for their assistance so far. A 25 year old male remains in Police custody on suspicion of drink-driving, dangerous driving and failing to stop.
"If anyone was in the Vazon area yesterday afternoon and saw the incident, but hasn’t yet spoken with Police, they’re asked to call the control room on 725111."
