The last of the summer shows starts today with the North Show taking place at Saumarez Park from 10:00 and culminating in the Battle of Flowers tomorrow.

The North Show is another event which has its roots in Guernsey's traditional industries of agriculture and horticulture and along with showcasing traditional goods and wares it also offers entertainment in the show ground throughout each day.

On both days the show also includes a fun fair with numerous stall-holders providing refreshments and other items for sale. Sheep Racing, Crown and Anchor, a Fun Dog Show, the Guernsey Velo Club Stunt Team, Pirate Punch and Judy, Story Telling, Street Dance, a large variety of food and trade stands and grand auction of produce.

The Battle of Flowers is held on the afternoon of the second day starting at 14:30 where decorated floats are paraded around the arena in a floral spectacular. The floats also take part in an illuminated parade in the evening at 21:00. The second day culminates in a firework display which starts at 22:00.

Gates open each day at 10:00 and whilst tickets have been on sale in advance you can still get them on the gate for the following costs:

Wednesday 22 on the gate - Adults £6, OAP & Juniors (5-15) £4 and under 5’s Free.

Thursday 23 on the gate - Adults £8, OAP & Juniors (5-15) £5 and under 5’s Free.

The marquee and outdoor displays include Guernsey cattle, goats and agricultural produce, and there are also many amateur competitors, with a variety of entries in the fur and feather classes, cut flowers, fruit and vegetables, flower arranging, cakes and baking, and the craft classes such as wood or metal working, embroidery and photography. These classes always attract a large children's entry, as well as the adult entries, with all goods placed on display in the marquees in the Show ground.

The whole show is run on a voluntary basis by the NAHS Committee.
