Nominations open for Sporting Achievement Awards

Monday 02 November 2020

In a challenging year for sport, those who have excelled and adapted during the pandemic will be celebrated through the annual Sporting Achievement Awards.

Nominations are now open for the 12 different awards and must be received by Monday 7 December.

Hosted by the Guernsey Sports Commission, awards night is Thursday 7 January 2021 in the theatre at Beau Sejour, starting at 6.30.

"Although 2020 has proved to be a rather difficult year for sport there are still plenty of performances and achievements to celebrate," said the Commission’s Operations Director, Graham Chester.

"We know that many of our high profile team sports such as football and rugby had their seasons significantly curtailed, but it was heartening to see how quickly our local sports organisations adapted and maintained competition and participation despite the challenges."

The criteria for each award are available on the commission’s website and nominations should be sent in writing to the Guernsey Sports Commission or via email to info@guernseysports.com

"We appreciate that because of the specific criteria it may not be possible to present some of the awards but the commission would encourage all local sporting organisations to nominate both teams and individuals and help us celebrate the many outstanding performances of 2020," said Mr Chester.
