No entry means...no entry!

Monday 23 September 2019

Drivers are being reminded to follow road signs, especially ones advising them of a no entry and one way road system.

Traffic and Highway Services have asked us to remind readers of those simple rules, after a number of complaints were made that some motorists are not following the directions given in some areas.

The States team, which coordinates road works and closures, says they've been made aware of "drivers who are choosing to drive through No-Entry signs and against temporary one-ways at two locations".

Those two locations are La Croix Martin, St Saviour, and L'Aumone in the Castel.

La Croix Martin, (the coast road), is currently one way from L’eree to Perelle whilst stonemasons carry out works on the seawall. The one-way system is in place for their safety but some drivers are choosing to ignore it.

L’Amone is currently one way between the doctor's surgery and the traffic lights, going towards the lights, whilst engineers from Guernsey Gas carry out works in the carriageway on the gas main.

THS have said, "in both of the above locations, drivers choosing to ignore the No-Entry and other signage is putting other motorists and in particular the contractors working in the carriageway in great danger.

"Guernsey Police are aware of the problems, and will take action against offenders."
