"New rights, enshrined in law"

Monday 18 September 2023

People in Guernsey will have updated consumer rights enshrined in law as new Trading Standards legislation comes into force next month.

It was passed through the States earlier this year and will become effective as of 2 October.

A small leaflet will be dropped into households over the coming weeks to inform people of the changes.

It'll cover the following five themes:

The States of Guernsey said: "On the Trading Standards Services gov.gg page the consumers can also find a helpful form to ascertain the issue with products and provide information about rights that likely apply to their specific circumstances.

"[Trading Standards Service] have also updated their pages on gov.gg to include the guidance for businesses, this can be found at gov.gg/tsbusinessadvice. For consumers, it can be found at gov.gg/tsconsumeradvice."
