New Head for Vale Primary

Tuesday 12 March 2024

With three decades experience teaching, Lauren Eyton-Jones has been promoted to the role of Headteacher at Vale Primary School.

She was previously the school's Deputy Headteacher, working under Gary Hind who is moving to a new role this year.

Her appointment was announced this morning, by Deputy Andrea Dudley-Owen, the President of the Committee for Education, Sport & Culture.

“Lauren has clearly made a mark on the Vale School community during her tenure there as Deputy Headteacher, and I am delighted to see her successful in her application to take the next step as Headteacher," she said.

"I have no doubt she will continue the hard work led by Gary, constantly push the school’s boundaries and ensure they never stop striving for improvement.

"Headteachers sit at the heart of school communities and are vital in a school’s success and we are privileged to have such quality members of staff in those posts in Guernsey.”

Mrs Eyton-Jones was appointed through a "competitive recruitment process" said ESC, with The Education Office now starting the process of recruiting a new Deputy Headteacher for Vale Primary too.

Mrs Eyton-Jones said she is looking forward to working alongside her new Deputy Head as well as the other staff, children, and the wider school community.

“I have been a primary teacher for the past 29 years and I have been very fortunate to have worked in a wide variety of schools within a range of year groups and leadership positions," she said. "It is a job for which I have an absolute passion and I feel both excited and privileged to have been appointed headteacher of Vale Primary School.

"I am very much looking forward to building upon all the progress made under Mr Hind’s leadership, and to continue to work with our staff, children and whole school community in order to ensure Vale Primary provides the very best educational outcomes for all, in an aspirational, inclusive and engaging learning environment.”

Mr Hind is taking up a new role as Headteacher of Amherst Primary School.
