New electoral roll opens ahead of 2025 election

Monday 02 December 2024

If you want to be able to have your say on the cast of Guernsey’s next political ensemble, you have to be signed up.

Would-be-voters have until 30 April 2025 to register, and although online registration is encouraged as it is quicker and more efficient, the States say registration forms will also be delivered to all households.

You can find out all the details and get yourself signed up at the 2025 Election website HERE.

Colette Falla, the Registrar General of Electors for the 2025 General Election, said: “2025 will see our second island-wide election for People’s Deputies, with everyone registered on Electoral Roll able to select up to 38 candidates. The Electoral Roll is now open and anyone wishing to vote in next year’s General Election must register

“We will be trying to get as many islanders registered as possible in the coming months to ensure we get a good turnout for the election. Everyone in our island has a voice and voting is one of the most powerful ways to have your say about how the island is run. It is a pillar of any democracy so I would urge people to register.

"The quickest way to register is online, with a simple form that will take only a few minutes to complete and submit electronically. You’ll then receive an email to confirm receipt. I would encourage people to use this method if possible.”

The election is due to be held on 18 June, with in person voting on that date, and ahead of it at assigned 'super-polling stations'. Postal votes will be delivered in early June.

For those considering standing as a candidate, the nomination period opens on 12 May, at 09.00. It then closes a short while after, on 14 May at 16.00.
