Guernsey's world champion bowler Lucy Beere and star young-swimmer Tatiana Tostevin both missed out on progressing from their pool and heat respectively yesterday.
Ms Tostevin set two personal best times in the 100m backstroke and 50m freestyle heats, but still finished seventh and second respectively.
Games records were broken in both of the races she competed in.
After Tom Hollingsworth's good start in the swimming pool, reaching the semi finals of the 100m backstroke, he swam again later on day one where he came 8th in semi final one, meaning he won't progress any further. However he and Miles Munro are both swimming again for Guernsey tomorrow, when they compete in the 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle respectively.
Guernsey's star bowls player Mrs Beere lost 21-6 to the Scottish competitor in her pool, leaving her without enough points to make it out. Competing in the Women's Singles, she began her campaign with a win and a loss at the Broadbeach Club, being defeated 21-15 by Laura Daniels of Wales but in her second round robin match she defeated Rachel Macdonald of Jersey 21-12. In the evening session, the men’s pairs team of lead Matt Solway and skip Matt Le Ber were narrowly defeated 16-14 by Canada.
They then lost out 10 -16 to Malta this morning, but Mrs Beere will still play the Brunei competition in her final match on Saturday.
