There were tailbacks along the seafront this morning after a motorist drove down the wrong side of the road and crashed into the roadside barrier.
At around 8:15 this morning, the driver of a blue Citroen ended up driving against the flow of traffic in the stretch of road between the Castle Pier and the Albert Pier.
The driver then crashed, at a slow speed, against the railings by the traffic lights, scraping the front right-hand side of the vehicle along one of the barriers separating the road and the pedestrian footpath.
Traffic heading southbound, in the direction of Havelet, had no way to get past. A couple of pedestrians were seen helping the motorist and moving the reversing the vehicle back down the road.
The road was clear by around 8:30.
