Motorcycle adventure planned in the ‘Forbidden Kingdom’

Two men are planning a two-week motorcycle trip in the Himalayan mountains this autumn, with interested islanders invited to come along for the ride nearly 9,000km away.

Ash Lamichhane, originally from Nepal, has been involved with outdoor guiding and activities since 2008 and has recently launched a new business to facilitate unique experiences.

Mr Lamichhane has had the idea in the back of his head to traverse the mountains for several years, with his friend Ozzy Chris agreeing to make the long journey for a few weeks of rugged riding and culture.

He worked the past five years to plan, save and now has secured the time off to explore the landscape on two wheels.

He said “anyone interested in motorbiking is welcome”, but as some of the terrain will prove challenging the trip is recommended for those with at least an intermediate riding ability.

On the “fun trip” he said travelers can expect to see stunning views, ancient buildings and temples, ruinous landscapes, and the sampling of local food thousands of meters above sea level.

The pair will stay in a combination of small huts and home stays with locals.

The trip is scheduled to last just over two weeks, with up to 12 of those spent on a bike. A flight to Pokhara, Nepal will be required.
