More time needed to investigate garage robbery

Friday 21 June 2024

A 42-year-old man will continue to be held in custody as he waits for investigations to continue into a charge of robbery at the Vale Service Station before the case is committed to the Royal Court.

Richard Thomas Clarke first appeared in the Magistrate's Court on 29 May where he was charged with the theft of £2,000 from the garage in the early hours of 30 April, but entered no pleas.

A person was hospitalised following the incident.

The man appeared again from the States Prison yesterday where the court extended his period of remand while the “considerable investigation” continues.

The case could be committed to the Royal Court in July or August.

The application for the defendants' continued remand in custody went unopposed.
