Some of Guernsey's shooters fell just below their targets yesterday on the Gold Coast, as Nikki Trebert missed out on the final of the women's 25m pistol and the Jory brothers finished ninth.
Island brothers Adam and Peter Jory finished ninth in the full bore shooting pairs, nine shots off of gold with 575- 45v. Matthew Guille also came 24th in the 50m prone rifle.
It was a difficult morning for the island's remaining bowlers as Todd Priaulx found himself in third place in his pool and no chance of making the top two.
Cyclist James McLaughlin also came lose finishing sixth in the individual time trials, getting 49.54.12, 1.41 seconds behind the gold winner. Jack English, Guernsey's other rider, finished 17th and Karina Jackson finished 17th in the women's time trial.
On the track, the younger of the Chalmer brothers, Alistair stormed to a new hurdles PB and island U20 record in a time of 51.10.
Yesterday, elder Chalmer brother Cameron missed out on a spot in the final of the men's 400m having come 5th in his semi final and 13th overall.
He ran 46.34 which is outside of his PB and although he made a good start in lane one, and was able to quickly close in on Grenada athlete Marcelle, he couldn't get ahead of the leaders Yahiya of India and Jamaican, McDonald, with Cedenio of Trinidad and Sibanda of Botswana just ahead of him also.
Two of Guernsey's swimmers also came "within a whisker" of progressing.
Miles Munro was just outside his PB of 21.5 seconds in the men's 50m freestyle, coming in at 22.94 meaning he just missed out on a spot at the semi final stage.
Also competing in yesterday morning's swimming session, Tatiana Tostevin finished 8th in her heat in the women's 50m backstroke and 20th overall in a time of 30.19.
A spokesman for the Guernsey Commonwealth Games Association said "Tostevin has impressed in the Gold Coast and the young Millfield swimmer will have learnt much from this Commonwealth Games experience and the world class field she has faced."
