Mickey Mouse is back!

Wednesday 22 April 2020

Mickey Mouse has returned to the porch of a St Peter Port property - this time displaying a rainbow, to keep local children smiling.

The statue can be seen above the front door of Ned and Abbs Oliveira's home in St Jacques.

It had previously stood there, alongside a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, until it was damaged in a seemingly random attack earlier this year.

Pictured: Mrs Oliveira shared her upset when her family's statue was damaged in March.

Since then, Mr Oliveira has been trying to fix Mickey up and since the island was in lockdown he's been able to finish his project.

Mrs Oliveira is very proud of her husband, and said she wanted to share a "little positivity" and to thank the people who had helped pay fo the repairs.

"Micky is once again back were he belongs, this time with his rainbow," said Mrs Oliveira.

"Thank you to the people who donated towards his medical fees and thank you to my husband Ned Nathan Oliveira for his talent in making these wonderful cheerful statues."
