A 20-year-old, who was caught with Class A and B drugs in Guernsey, has narrowly missed out on a youth detention sentence in the island's Magistrate's Court.
Tian Adams was stopped by police officers just before 01:00 on 24 March this year, when they thought he was acting suspiciously.
When one of the officers took hold of the defendant's arm and said he was going to be searched, Adams quickly pulled his arm away and sprinted off. Officers claim to have seen him throw an object on the ground as he ran, but it was not found.
The officers followed Adams on foot and eventually caught up and managed to get him onto the ground, where he continued to struggle.

The defendant was arrested for resisting a police officer and was taken to the station to be searched. On looking through his pockets, officers found a clear bag containing Class A drugs, which Adams then snatched from their hands.
Guernsey Police searched the defendant's bedroom at his home address, where they found more Class A and B drugs as well as scales, a funnel, empty pill capsules and £90 in cash.
In total, Adams had 4.76g of MDMA in both power and tablet form, 0.09g of cannabis resin and 1g of Class B 4-CEC.
Despite a number of previous convictions, Judge Philip Robey said he was prepared to give Adams a "final chance" and decided not to send him to youth detention. Instead, the defendant had to take an oath of good behaviour for two years, and is required to regularly report to the Probation Service for the next 12 months.
"You've got your chance," Judge Robey said. "It's up to you whether you take it now."
