It is now mandatory for students at the island’s sixth form centre to come to school wearing ID lanyards.
It’s common practice for students to have identification lanyards in schools in the UK.
A spokesperson for Education said:
“The decision to bring these in was made to follow best safeguarding practice and improve the ways sixth form students sign in and out.”
A student from the Sixth Form Centre told Express that they understood the lanyards were being brought in because students from other schools were entering the Les Varendes campus.
The same spokesperson from Education said this isn’t the case and the lanyards were not brought in because of this issue.
