A 55-year-old man has appeared in Jersey's Magistrate's Court, charged with the attempted murder of a shop worker in the island.

Trevor Robert John Green, who was wearing a white t-shirt, is accused of stabbing the female employee at Morrisons, Castle Quay, in St Helier on Saturday 18 November.

Mr Green was represented by Duty Advocate Allana Binnie, and Legal Adviser Howard Tobias appeared on behalf of the prosecution.

The case is due to be referred to the Royal Court on 2 February.

Relief Magistrate Peter Harris, presiding, directed that Mr Green should reappear in court before that date.
