Housing licence terminated after admitting disorderly behaviour.

Disorderly behaviour has lost a man his right to live in Guernsey.

Karlis Plavejs repeatedly swore at police officers at the Quay, St Peter Port, on 23 June 2018. Despite warnings, he swore at police officers and other members of public, as well as kicking a plant pot and a waste bin "forcibly", after which he was arrested for disorderly conduct.

As a result, his licence has been terminated and the 28-year-old will have to leave the island within two weeks.

Guernsey's Magistrate's Court was told on the night of the incident he "had far too much to drink", but his advocate said Plavejs, "acknowledges he has problem with alcohol, and has been attending alcohol anonymous meetings. He is aware what he has done and is embarrassed."

The judge gave Plavejs credit for his guilty plea, but it meant he was in breach of a bind-over order placed in November 2017. Such orders were in place, the judge said, to discourage similar behaviour. A fine of £500 was imposed for the breach, and £300 for the disorderly conduct.
