With running races, tennis open days and street parties out of town - there are a number of ways to mark Liberation Day this year.
One of the longest running events on the Liberation Day activities list is the Guernsey Athletics Club Liberation Road Race.
It started the year after the island was liberated and has been held every year since 1946. The seven mile course starts at Rousse and ends in town.
Other sporting events include the visit of "tennis legend" Henri Leconte who will spend time at the Guernsey Tennis Centre today, where he will officially open the padel courts. You can meet him from 14:00.
Between 10:00 and 13:00 there is the chance to meet a "film star" in Guernsey. The Dakota which featured in The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie film will be landing at Guernsey Airport for a static display.
The plane (pictured top) is a C47 Sky Train and those who want to see it can park at the Airport Terminal.
The now-annual street party in St Andrews will be underway throughout Wednesday 9 May, with events on throughout the day including live music and a barbecue. Other pubs across the island are hosting events with live music on at the Mariners and the Golden Lion too.
