Leaving the Chaos behind...

Thursday 11 January 2024

The two main organisers of the Chaos festival are retiring, so they can enjoy the weekend as punters instead!

'Ozy' Chris and Lorna Chadwick have been at the helm of each of the 18 Chaos festivals held so far.

Since the first Chaos was held in 2005, there has been one every year except for 2020 when the covid pandemic saw most events cancelled.

Ozy Chris and Lorna have organised each of the festivals held so far and announced their retirement yesterday "after 18, pretty awesome years".

The Chaos team said: "It's time for them to hang up their organising hats, kick back and try life as punters. The Chaos crew would like to take this opportunity to thank them for all of their dedication and hard work. If you see them buy them a pint."

The news of the Chaos organisers retirement was met with immediate thanks to both of them for their tireless efforts in putting on the event over nearly two decades.

Steve Byrne, the manager of the GSPCA - one of the charities which has benefited from funds raised by Chaos in the past - called them both "superstars" while renowned musician and local gig organiser Mark Guillou said "well done you two".

Regular Chaos attendee Gayla Le Pelley suggested a stage be named after the Chadwicks.

"What a great festival you’ve helped to create and a great legacy to pass on," she wrote on Facebook. "Massive well done and congrats on being able to attend as punters. Maybe there could be an event/stage named after you guys?"

Fellow attendee Claire Gervais commented that "for an event named Chaos, it was impeccably organised!"

The praise and thanks continued to be shared from many other fans of the Chaos festival.

The 2024 Chaos is due to be held over the last weekend in June as is now tradition - with the festival fields booked for the 28 - 30 June.

The event always starts on the Friday with music and other attractions continuing throughout the Saturday before a chilled out Sunday brings Chaos to a close.

Under the leadership of Ozy Chris and Lorna it has also strived to be "somewhere you can be yourself" with a family friendly atmosphere shared by people "who know how to throw a party".

Both Ozy Chris and Lorna are members of the Greenman Motorcycle Club and Chaos Events is part of the club too.

Founded in 1999, the Greenmail MCC say they "live by the mantra 'we will party with anyone and anyone is welcome to party with us'. We are an active club who love to ride and party across the Channel Islands, as well as further afield".

Alongside Chaos, the Greenman MCC puts on other events and fundraising activities throughout the year, including the Big Ride Out in Jersey and the weekly summer Greenman bike nights in Guernsey.
