Retailers across the island's two main shopping centres are gearing up for late night openings which they hope will provide a boost to the economy ahead of Christmas.
With St Peter Port's Christmas lights being switched on yesterday, and the ones at the Bridge next Friday, some of the retailers in each location will be opening late on Thursday and Tuesday evenings respectively over the next few weeks.
The Guernsey Retail Group has co-ordinated some competitions to try and encourage shoppers out, and is hoping people will join in with the festive spirit.
Korinne Le Page, Head of Retail Development at the Guernsey Retail Group, said: "We are excited to be offering late-night shopping once again which is always a firm favourite in the yearly calendar.
"There are some fabulous prizes to be won by entering the competition on the first two nights and we hope that the extended opening hours also mean Islanders support our local traders and hospitality venues."
The first two nights that Ms Le Page refers to are Thursday 30 November and 7 December.
The GRG has arranged for prizes from different shops in town including travel vouchers.
Shops will also be open late in town on 14 and 21 December, with the Bridge shops open late on 12 and 19 December.
Entertainment has been arranged for the late night shopping evenings with outdoor stalls selling hot drinks, mulled wine, chestnuts and doughnuts in town too.
With additional parking provided at the harbour and park and ride services from Sir Charles Frossard House to the bus terminus, the GRG hopes people will use the opportunities available to spend some of their money locally in the run up to Christmas.
CT Plus is also running its late night services on Thursday's for the next few weeks.
Ms Le Page added: "We are fortunate to enjoy a wonderful community spirit in Guernsey so hope the competition, extended opening hours, entertainment, stalls and excitement leading up to Christmas all add to the festive atmosphere."
