'Last Flamingo...' premiere nearing

Friday 17 November 2023

Tickets are on sale now for the premiere of a locally produced and filmed feature, which will be released in London in February with its first official screening at a Leicester Square theatre.

Last Flamingo of the Red Summer Sunset is a 'revisionist period drama' which will be screened at the Princes Charles Cinema on 2 February.

Set in the late 19th century, the film stars Guernsey actors Andrew T Hislop (Indulgence, A Silent Imprisonment) and Cameron Ashplant (Marooned Awakening, Masters of the Air) as a Buffalo soldier with a scarred past and and a psychotic antagonist fueled by the mysticism of American Expansion respectively.

The pair are joined by Magnificent Seven actors Dane Rhodes (Free State of Jones, True Detective) and Billy Slaughter (The Campaign, Mindhunter), as well as Dean Hollingworth (Doctor Who, Casualty) and Brandon Ashplant (Underground, Sands of Purgatory).

The film is an Across the Channel Production, with producer Cameron Ashplant saying the 2024 London premiere is the perfect next step for Guernsey Cinema.

"It is hugely exciting for everyone involved. You cannot dream of a more prestigious screen to premiere a film. We now need to build relations with Filmmakers in the UK, to raise the bar. This event enables this."

The premiere of ‘Last Flamingo of the Red Summer Sunset’ is expected to be the first known West End theatrical release for a movie produced and shot in the Channel Islands.

This has been made possible with financial and event support of VisitGuernsey with the hope that attending Producers, Location scouts and distributors will see that Guernsey is "open for business as a growing player in the British Film industry".

A number of leading industry figures have been invited to attend the Prince Charles cinema red carpet screening and post drinks reception with an advert from VisitGuernsey, showcasing further the scenery and opportunities Guernsey offers.
