Last chance to impact the future of Guernsey's sporting sector

Saturday 21 July 2018

Nearly 800 people have so far responded to the Committee for Education, Sport & Culture's consultation on sport and physical activity, and the states are keen to hear from even more people.

The consultation, which has also had feedback from 22 sports clubs/associations, closes this Sunday, 22 July.

The Committee remains keen to hear from as many people as possible as it works on a new strategy for Guernsey sport, as directed by the States last year.

ESC said it wants to hear from people who are involved in sport and activity, but also those who aren't. This would help them improve as many lives as possible in relation to sporting and fitness needs of the public, but also to get an understanding on how to involve members of the public in the sporting sector.

The Plan for Sport consultation questionnaire has been put together with input from the Guernsey Sports Commission and health professionals. It sets out five broad themes:

  • Sport for All
  • Healthy Lifestyles
  • Sports Events & Travel
  • Facilities
  • Sporting Governance

Members of the public can access the individual questionnaire via gov.gg/sportstrategy. Paper and large print copies of the survey are available to collect from Beau Sejour Leisure Centre.

The Committee intends to release the initial consultation responses by the end of October.
