La Vrangue goes one-way as work winds down

Saturday 27 October 2018

La Vrangue will be one-way from this morning, as the final set of work to widen the road is being started.

Two of the main contractors who had been working on the project for some weeks finished what they were doing yesterday.

Now, Guernsey Electricity and their contractors will complete their part of the job, but this can be done while the road is functioning as a one-way.

It's thought that will improve some of the traffic problems which have built up as a result of the road closure, with many people blaming La Vrangue being shut for queues nearby.

Now, the road section between Guelles Road and Millbrook Estate will be one way, so that vehicles entering La Vrangue from La Couture will only be able to gain access to both the Post Office and the Estate, but access will be right through from the other direction.

Drivers heading from from Millbrook Estate and the Post Office will need to exit the area via La Couture.

The most recent work on La Vrangue started more than a month ago now, and has seen no access from La Couture towards the coast and the Bouet. The project is  to widen the narrowest point of the road, following on from previous works to widen another part of the road, further toward the Post Office.
