La Société is looking to spend more time working with pre-school and primary school children to broaden their knowledge of the natural environment.
It is recruiting a full-time Education and Conservation Leader, who will provide activities in schools and guided outings to nature reserves and the local shoreline.
Additionally, La Société President Yvonne Burford said the successful candidate will also manage opportunities for corporate volunteers to undertake nature conservation work on nature reserves and public land.
“We are very pleased to be able to press forward with this exciting opportunity which would not be possible without the generous support of the Guernsey Community Foundation," she said. "Guernsey has wonderful wildlife, botany, shorelines and nature reserves and we want to give the opportunity to children and adults to learn more about nature and to help conserve it in a hands-on way, supported by a knowledgeable and engaging leader.”
The Community Foundation is supporting the creation of the new post.
“The Foundation is a long-time champion of La Société, recognising the valuable work that it does to preserve and promote Guernsey’s natural resources," said CEO Jim Roberts. "Funding this exciting new post reflects the Foundation’s intention, as it enters its tenth year, to more actively support environmental projects and initiatives.”
Details of how to apply can be found on La Société’s website at societe.org.gg.
