Over 500 items knitted by islanders have been sent to Poland and Latvia for Ukrainian refugees.
Lilita Kruze, who launched an appeal for knitted baby hats earlier this month, said boxes containing 355 hats, 99 vests, 33 comforters and 23 blankets as well as 30 cannulas and some Essential Guernsey map brochures were posted last week.

“Since the appeal was launched on 13 March, more than 100 people have been busy knitting baby items,” said Ms Kruze.
“I was going to run the appeal until 31 March, but I am considering keeping it open if donations continue to be received.
“Islanders have been absolutely amazing; I never expected such a big response.”

Heather, who took part in the appeal, said: “Every single hat makes a difference. I’m not particularly fast at knitting, but there’s a lot of love going into making them.”
Collection points for the Newborn Baby Hats Appeal are: Waitrose stores (Admiral Park and Rohais), St Andrew's Church, Vale Church, St Saviour’s Parish Church, St Marie du Castel on Rectory Hill, Castel and St Matthew's Church at the Guet, Cobo.
