Electricity upgrades are shutting down Edward T Wheadon House until next Tuesday, but the public is being assured staff and services will continue to work as normal.
While the building will be inaccessible from today, staff are working from home or States HQ while a new mains electricity control is installed.
Income support and benefit payments will continue to be made in the period, but the States is asking these to be paid into a bank account where possible due to a limitation to dispense cheques or vouchers.
The service is still accessible by telephone too on 222500.
Rent payments for social housing can still be made online, at the post office, or over the phone, as can other online payments such as property tax.
Information about vehicle licensing can also be found on the government website.
Ed Ashton, Director of Operations, thanked the public for their understanding and said the upgrades would improve infrastructure resilience.
“Due to the nature of the equipment, the building will have to be completely powered down and disconnected from the mains supply. This means the building does have to temporarily close, but we are doing everything we can to ensure business as normal for the two working days that the building will be inaccessible to staff and the public,” he said.
