Waste sites closed to public and most commercial operators

Monday 25 January 2021

All public waste and recycling sites have closed until further notice, while kerbside collections continue as normal.

People should continue to put out waste and recycling on their normal collection night, unless someone in the household has tested positive for Covid-19, has symptoms, or is awaiting a test or test results.

The Household Waste & Recycling Centre at Longue Hougue, the Chouet green waste site and the public bring bank sites at Waitrose Rohais, Salerie Corner and Longfrie Inn will all remain shut during lockdown, as will the clothes banks around the island.

The Waste Transfer Station will remain open to parish collection contractors and companies collecting from essential businesses.

The Longue Hougue Land Reclamation site and Mont Cuet will be closed to other commercial operators, except by arrangement with Guernsey Waste.

Strict guidelines are being finalised for how those using those sites must operate.

Guernsey Waste staff will be responding to enquiries on 231234 and recycle@gov.gg between 08.45 and 16.30 Monday to Friday.
