A juvenile has been arrested and released on bail as investigations into a large scale spree of criminal damage in the north of the island continue.
Since police released some CCTV footage to help identify one of the perpetrators, they said they had received a number of calls from the public, with "several callers having given the same information as to those who may be responsible.
The damage occurred in the early hours of Saturday 5 May, as the group moved between Rousse, along Route Carre, through Baubigny and to the Salt Pans.
The group smashed up cars' wing mirrors and windscreens, broken greenhouses, destroyed public toilets and more in their path.
“Incidents of criminal damage on this scale are rare in Guernsey” said Duty Inspector Karl Zierlinger.
“It’s clear by the level of engagement and response that we have had from the members of the public, that they are as keen as we are to see those responsible held to account for their actions. We would like to thank islanders for their ongoing assistance and would urge anyone who has any information and hasn’t already spoken with us to get in contact by calling 725111. Information can also be given anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
Overall, it’s thought the spate of criminal damage began in the Rousse area where the public toilets were damaged and windows smashed. Commercial premises in the Route Carre were also targeted and damage was caused to garden furniture and windows along Les Gigands.
15 cars in Lowlands Road and the Saltpans were vandalised with a number of wing mirrors damaged and windows and the windscreen of a vehicle were smashed.
The police released CCTV to the public to help identify the perpetrators.
