Pumpkins will take centre stage at Edible Guernsey's Halloween showcase, with carving, handmade treats and a themed menu featuring pumpkin scones.

Edible, the ‘horticultural food hub’, is hosting a Halloween-themed event, which will see activities such as fancy-dress competitions, guess the weight of the pumpkin, and pumpkin carving.

The Great Incredible Seed Swap, hosted by Lizzie Roper, is for attendees to bring along some seeds, and exchange them with others.

Edible’s Sarah Breton said that if people wish to get involved but do not have seeds themselves, they can take some out of Edible’s own seed library by leaving a donation.

Also at the event will be stalls of homemade goods, such as wooden items crafted in the Men’s Shed and products from the Seaweed Food Co.

Autumn-themed refreshments will be available, including hot drinks, pumpkin soup, a pumpkin/squash Japanese curry, tomatillo stew, pumpkin scones, pies, and various other dishes prepared by members of Edible.

The event will run from 12:00 to 15:00 on Sunday 31 October, and is located at Edible Vinery, Rue des Heches, St Peters, GY8 0DS. Parking is available on site.

Edible would love to involve a local face painter to add to Halloween costumes. If anyone is interested, please contact Sarah Breton via the Edible Guernsey Facebook page.
