Housing plans submitted for North Side

More plans for the redevelopment of The Bridge have come forward, with an application now in to convert three buildings, sandwiching the proposed Home Bargains site, to create seven flats and a commercial unit.

TJ Morris Limited, which is also seeking to bring Quayside back into retail use, wants to convert and alter two buildings to the east of the same site, Durlston House and La Croix, into two one-bed flats and a refurbished shop respectively.

Four parking spaces and cycle stores are included.

Quayside House and a store house, called Sierra Leone, are to the east, with four one-bedroom flats, four parking spaces, and bicycle parking proposed there, with a small extension sought for the former building.

The properties would also have a study, four parking spaces and bicycle parking.

All buildings bar Durlston House are protected, but all have been deserted for years.

The applicant is simultaneously seeking to reestablish 23,000sqft of retail and a garden centre on the land in-between these sites, which could create 100 jobs.
