“High-calibre” people appointed to Tourism Management Board

A government created board responsible for developing tourism in Guernsey has been rounded out by several high-profile people from across the island’s tourism industry.

The Tourism Management Board was created by the Committee for Economic Development to help stakeholders offer input into how tourism is developed in the island.

Hannah Beacom was appointed Chair earlier this year and has since recruited eight board members. They are: Greg Yeoman (Condor), Nico Bezuidenhout (Aurigny), Clare Crowson (Premier Holidays), Charlie Walker (Little Big Group), Ian Vaudin (Guernsey Taxi Drivers’ Association), Jon Bisson (St James), Simon Vermeulen (ED tourism lead), and Mary Putra (SOG Director of Marketing and Comms).

“The membership of the Tourism Management Board makes for positive reading, as it contains high-calibre people with vast experience in their respective areas and reflects the wide-ranging industry as a whole,” said Deputy Vermeulen.

“This board - made up of industry stakeholders with an independent Chair - gives the industry a route to provide true strategic input into the sector’s development while also providing an economical solution for the Guernsey taxpayer.”

The board will also include Keith Beecham as a non-voting member.

“Additionally, with his background and prior involvement it’s great that Mr Beecham has accepted our offer to sit on the board as a non-voting member,” said Ms Beacom. Mr Beecham carried out a review focused on the future of Visit Guernsey last year.

“His support of the board’s work, the knowledge and experience he brings, and the advice he will be able to offer will be incredibly valuable.”

The board will meet for the first time in March.
