The hidden people of Guernsey...

Friday 19 April 2019

Lots of small 'fairy doors' have been spotted around the island and local children are being called upon to help find them.

The trail of magical doors, entitled Les Siauns Muchis, has been created by Denise McGahy of Iris & Dora.

Every door has been handcrafted by the company and is unique in style and colour.

Guernsey Museums is working with Ms McGahy to launch the trail as part of its annual Island Explorers Quiz. Access and Learning Manager Jo Dowding said: "The title of the trail means 'The Hidden Ones' in Guernésiais and this is very apt because the doors are not in plain sight. Initiatives like this are another way to engage with more people about our amazing island and heritage."

The quiz is available to download here and should be returned to Guernsey Museum at Candie or Iris & Dora in Ruette Braye before 10 May to receive a small prize and enter the grand prize draw.

Les Siauns Muchis has been launched as part of the Guernsey Heritage Festival but is intended to be permanent with many more locations being added in the future.
