A multitude of charities that work within Guernsey's health sector have received some big sums of cash, thanks to the island's Social Investment Fund and the Channel Island's Lottery.
The CI Lottery works closely with the SIF in Guernsey, as well as the Jersey Community Foundation and the Association of Jersey Charities. These organisations all help distribute lottery funding to charitable causes across the Channel Islands.
The Guernsey Alzheimers Association was awarded £156,000 which will help the charity continue to the work they do with their dedicated team.
£73,000 went to the Guernsey Cheshire Home which was used to support management salaries.
More than £21,000 went to Health Connections, which helped support their Community Transport Service, whilst £12,500 was used by Guernsey Friends of Maggie's to support the running costs of their Southampton Facility, and to support the salary costs of Cancer Support Specialists.
Headway Guernsey was awarded £9,750 to help with rental costs.

Chair of SIF’s Board of Directors, the Very Reverend Tim Barker, said it is great to see the money shared between these worthy causes.
“By investing in these organisations, we are helping them to sustain and expand their vital services, ultimately improving the quality of life for individuals and families throughout the Bailiwick of Guernsey," he said.
"It is rewarding to see how this support enables these charities to continue their essential work and make a real difference in our community. We are grateful to the CI Lottery for their funding.”
