They've been closed for a wee while, but now the public toilets on Southside are being reopened - much to the relief of Bridge traders, shoppers and others using the public facilities there.
They were closed three years ago, in what at the time was described as a cost cutting measure.
The St Sampson Douzaine has been credited with arranging for the toilet block on Southside to be officially reopened.
The Bridge Traders have a Facebook page which details events and community initiatives at the retail hub, which also described the toilets as the "prettiest" facilities of their kind too.
The page also thanked the Douzaine for arranging for the toilets to be reopened, saying that "the community will benefit."
The saga of closed toilets has been an issue for some years, with a number of facilities now blocked off from public use. They include toilets at the Halfway, which are closed, and at the Market, which were covered over when the area was redeveloped.
However, there could be toilets at the Market again in the near future, although they will be available for people visiting the shops there rather than the general public. They are the toilets linked with a former restaurant behind where HMV is. Planning permission was applied for to alter the access so that they could be used by people walking through the Inner Street of the Market.
That would double the number of toilet blocks at that end of town, with the only other facilities being the public toilets at the Albany.
Earlier this year, the St Peter Port Constables launched a public toilet community initiative to ensure there were facilities available to everyone shopping in town. That included engaging with organisations in Town to ask them to participate in the project, by displaying a sticker to show that they would allow the public to use their facilities.
A number of organisations did sign up including the Constables Office in Lefebvre Street as well as:

There's not likely to be any move to reopen the toilets at the Halfway as they have been shut off, but the reopening of the toilets on Southside mean the Bridge is now 'bookended' with public facilities.
Elsewhere in the island the majority of public toilets are linked with beach kiosks or other public facilities.
The toilets on Southside will reopen "shortly" once some repairs have been completed. They are then expected to be open between 07:00 and 19:00 daily.
