Guernsey’s Financial Intelligence Service will be able to rapidly exchange intelligence with an international anti-corruption centre after gaining membership to their scheme.
Guernsey FIS is one of eight new members to the International Anti-Corruption Coordination Centre alongside the Cayman Islands, Gibraltar, Jersey, Mauritius, Seychelles, Isle of Man and the Turks & Caicos Islands.
The role of the Bailiwick's financial intelligence unit is to counter and combat money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation financing.
Membership to the IACCC means Guernsey can rapidly exchange intelligence with the international body on corruption investigations.
Adrian Hale, Head of Guernsey’s Financial Intelligence Service, said being part of the scheme will have mutual benefits.
“This is a positive development for our Financial Intelligence Unit and mutually beneficial as we will bring our extensive experience and expertise to be able to assist other jurisdictions in the complex world of financial crime. I look forward to working more closely with the IACCC and the Associate Members.”
