Guernsey's charities invited to apply for Saffery Rotary Walk funding

Monday 21 October 2024

Organisations from Guernsey’s third sector have been invited to apply for funding raised from next year's Saffery Rotary Walk, after a record breaking 2024.

This year's walk managed to raise over £90,000, which was distributed to 21 different charities locally, ranging across social care, healthcare, sport, arts, leisure, and more.

Walk Chairman, Simon Milsted, said: “We’re proud to once again offer local charities the opportunity to benefit from the Saffery Rotary Walk.

“Each year, the Walk’s success allows us to support initiatives that make a real difference to islanders, and we encourage all eligible charities to put forward applications that clearly demonstrate how they will positively impact our community.”

For the application to be considered, it will need to set out in specific items, projects or schemes, which must have a defined outcome. For example the funds could be used for a campaign, new equipment, or facility improvements, but general administration costs or overheads wouldn’t be covered.

Saffery Trust Director, Lisa Vizia said: “The Saffery Rotary Walk is a wonderful example of the community coming together to support a wide range of charitable projects.

“We look forward to starting the process of finding new applicants for next year’s Walk, and we would love to hear from any local charities or not-for-profit organisations within our community.”

If a charity wants to submit an application, they have until the end of next month (30th November), and can be found on the Saffrey Rotary Walk’s website, along with more information on physical applications.
