If you're a photography fan, or feeling inspired by the Photography NOW exhibition currently taking place at the Gate House Gallery, then we advise you to read on! For one day only, on Saturday the 17th of February, international portrait photographer Aaron Yeandle will be holding a free two hour workshop in the art studios of Elizabeth College.
In the workshop, you’ll learn about camera settings, studio lighting technique and composition - providing you with the skills needed to start your portrait photography journey. The workshop will take place between 10am and midday. To book a place, please email: astephens@elizabethcollege.gg.
Wildlife Photography Workshop with Matt Stockreiter

Just can't get enough of the photography buzz? This Saturday the 17th is your lucky day. Taking place from 1pm to 3:30pm, talented wildlife photographer and filmmaker Matt Stockreiter will be holding an open-air workshop in and around Pleinmont headland. Not only will you get a chance to explore composition and field techniques, but Matt will also walk you through wildlife behaviour and ethical issues. Lit with Liberate is back for February, and this month's read is a memoir by the inspiring Canadian actor, Elliot Page! Taking place between 7pm and 8:30pm on Thursday the 22nd of February, the team invite you to come along for pizza, drinks and book chat in the Rowswell Room on the second floor of the Guille-Allés Library. Zoom attendance is possible upon request and there is no booking required. If you haven’t read the book but want to come along for a taster of the book group, please do! This Saturday the 17th of February, St James will play host to Guernsey Social Dancing’s long-awaited salsa event! The evening will kick off at 7pm, giving you time to settle in before the salsa class commences at 7:30pm. The class will be held by professional dancer and teacher, Rasa Pauzaite, who invites you to learn some steps, or just do your own thing to the infectious rhythms of Sarabanda - a live Salsa band with a serious groove, taking to the stage at 9pm. “Sarabanda are sure to fill the dance floor with their glorious mix of Cuban rhythms.
Sliding effortlessly between classic cha chacha, mambo and son to the latest hot timba, salsa and Latin jazz, this is Cuban music at its very finest.” The event will continue for another hour or so after the band have finished their set, with a playlist mix including salsa bachata and kizomba. Dust off your dancing shoes and secure your tickets today!
Join Guernsey-based traditional music band, Catioroc, next Friday the 23rd of February at Les Douvres Hotel, for a night of Irish, English and Scottish tunes! With music starting at 7:30pm, you’ll have time to grab yourself a delicious pizza and a drink before the party begins. This event is free admission, so save the date today!
