Green waste recycling to get a temporary home

Wednesday 20 December 2023

Permission has been given to set up temporary green waste sites for three months while preparations continue to create a new quarry at Chouet.

The sites, located at Le Courtil Du Grand Camp and La Croute Du Grand Camp, will serve domestic green waste recycling for the public.

Both are close to the Mont Cuet reception area.

Planners have said these sites can only operate between 08:00 and 16:00 between Mondays and Saturdays, and only until 12:00 on Sundays to prevent nuisance to nearby residential properties.

It will be excavated into a neighboring field to house the reception hut, storage units, bins and generators – fenced off with metal and a retaining wall of blocks.

Approval has already been given for a new permanent home of green waste recycling, but this will not be ready in time for development to occur at the existing site.

The current processing area located to the northwest of these temporary sites will make way for construction work associated with the first phase of Ronez’s quarry development.

No representations or objections were made to the application submitted by Guernsey Waste.
