"We were very fortunate once again to have had a high quality field of applicants, from which four have been selected to serve as my Cadets over the coming year," his Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor, Sir Ian Corder, said.
"It’s been a real pleasure to meet the new Cadets this evening at the start of what promises to be a busy and interesting year for the Island. I’m very much looking forward to working with them."
The medals the cadets are presented with are each struck locally by Bruce Russell & Son. They are also presented with a woven badge to wear on their uniforms.
Each of them will also become members of The Youth Commission for Guernsey and Alderney’s Youth Forum. The Forum is a group of young people from across the Bailiwick that represents the views of their peers and issues important to young people in the island.
Miss Charlie Cox, CEO of The Youth Commission, said: "The Youth Commission are delighted to once again support the process for selecting the Lieutenant-Governor’s Cadets. We are also delighted to see an increase in the range of applications this year from across our community. It is great also that the Cadets will continue to sit as members of the Youth Forum and be able to share with His Excellency common issues faced by our young people."
