Get out your orange clothes for MS awareness

Tuesday 24 April 2018

We're all encouraged to wear orange on Wednesday 25 as part of an annual campaign to raise awareness of MS.

It is the third WOW the Guernsey Branch of the MS Society has arranged and it is being held to co-incide with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Awareness Week.

Tomorrow's awareness and fundraising is again being sponsored by Richmond Fiduciary Group and is expected to be supported by many local organisations, groups and schools including Marks & Spencers, Creaseys, Northern Trust and La Mare De Carteret Secondary School.

If anyone else wants to join in there are orange clothes available to buy from the Donate Keeping It Local store on Mont Arrive, Guernsey Goldsmiths at Oatlands Village or by emailing secretary@guernseyms.com. Items include: scarves, bow ties, ties, hair extensions, hair bands, scrunchies and socks plus others available for a suggested donation of £2.00. Large orders can be delivered and there may be some items  available on the day from Marks & Spencers Stores too.

A spokesperson for the MS Society Guernsey branch said it doesn't matter if fundraising is done on a different day: "If you can’t do it on Wednesday, 25 April then, by all means, do it on another day – we don’t mind at all!"

The spokesperson said "all support is greatly appreciated" adding that the next step is to get your friends, family and colleagues involved with all donations gratefully received, however big or small.

Money raised locally will be spent improving the lives of local people affected by MS covering costs for such things as mobility equipment, transportation, specialised bedding, events and therapeutic exercise classes.
