Fundraising continues for Christmas Lights

This year's Christmas Lights may have been paid for already, but the fundraising is continuing to make sure St Peter Port is lit up in the future.

It costs tens of thousands of pounds each year to maintain or replace the light bulbs, to put them up, check them and then power them - meaning for some people it's an ongoing effort to make sure there's enough money in the account so the rest of us can enjoy the festive atmosphere in town each year.

One way they're raising money this year is through selling Christmas themed gifts and accessories. Jax Robins and her team are in the OSA Pop-up Shop on Smith Street until Saturday, with a number of items for sale.

Mrs Robins said, "the Pop-up Shop will be open 10:00 - 17:00 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week, and all funds being raised now are towards next year's display!"

As well as at the Pop-up Shop, they'll be selling light up hairbands, wristbands, rings, wands and pendants on Saturday around Market Square for the big switch on of the lights, hosted by Father Christmas himself. Mrs Robins said again, that all the money raised then will be going towards putting the lights up and turning them on next year.
