The Guernsey Walking Football Club is looking for more support from both the public and the States of Guernsey as it continues to grow the game.
80 people are involved in the unique sport locally, which is aimed mainly at people over 50 and lives its ethos that ‘fun, friendship and fitness means giving everyone a chance’.
Guernsey has two teams looking to compete in the much-delayed World Cup next year in Manchester, with players hoping to get over to the UK in May.
“As usual, Guernsey is punching above its weight,” said Chairman Andrew Bisson.

However, the club is now at a stage where it could potentially host more games in Guernsey and put on more events. However, it requires more funding if it wants to fulfil those ambitions and continue to grow the local game, which provides health benefits to those who take part.
Mr Bisson wants the States to agree that “sports tourism does exist”. He thinks the support they currently get is simply not enough.
He would also welcome businesses and corporate bodies in Guernsey to get in touch with their own teams.
You can contact the group via their new website.
