Local children are being encouraged to join in the Liberation Day celebrations with free activity packs.

More than 500 packs will be available to celebrate the 77th anniversary. They'll include “paint your pebble” packs and a Liberation activity booklet featuring themed crosswords, word searches, colouring activities and a cavalcade checklist.

Biodegradable Union Jack and Guernsey flags will also be available to collect for free, with families encouraged to wave them at the passing cavalcade.

Committee for Education, Sport and Culture member, Deputy Sue Aldwell, said: “We are so pleased to be able to enable hundreds of children the chance to paint pebbles and to wave flags at the cavalcade. We encourage all to share pictures for everyone to enjoy.”

The free packs have been made possible thanks to support from Credit Suisse.

Chief Executive of Credit Suisse, Glen Tonks, added: “We are delighted to be supporting children in the Bailiwick with the activity packs.

“We encourage all parents and guardians to pick up a pack, get creative with friends and family and enjoy the Liberation Day celebrations together as a community.’

The activity packs are limited to one per family so that as many children as possible can get involved.

The packs are free of charge and can be collected from Beau Sejour reception during the centre’s opening hours from Monday 2 May until Liberation Day on 9 May.
