Four Bailiwick residents honoured in the Queen's Birthday Honours List

Two Guernsey men, a Guernsey woman and an Alderney woman have been honoured by Her Majesty the Queen in her Birthday Honours List.

Jurat Stephen Jones is awarded an OBE, Mr Keith Robins is awarded the MBE and Mrs Rosemary James is awarded the BEM. Mrs Sarah Penney has been awarded the Royal Victorian Medal (Silver).

Information released by Guernsey's Government House, on the eve of Her Majesty's official birthday celebrations said:

"His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor is pleased to announce that the following Bailiwick residents have been honoured in this year's Queen's Birthday Honours List."

Jurat Stephen Jones is awarded the OBE for his services to the Royal Court of Guernsey, as well as his work for local charities and the wider island community.

Mr Robins is to receive the MBE for his services to vulnerable young people and their families in Guernsey. This includes many years spent fostering and also his work to establish the Action for Children charity.

Mrs James is receiving the BEM for her services to sport and the community in Alderney.

Mrs Sarah Penney, Second Cook at Guernsey’s Government House, has been awarded the Royal Victorian Medal (Silver) which forms part of the Royal Victorian Order. It was founded by Queen Victoria as a way of rewarding personal service to Her. The Order remains entirely within the personal gift of the Sovereign.
