A local fisherman, who had been lost at sea for hours after his boat sank near Herm, was rescued by a helicopter last night.
The Spirit of Guernsey Lifeboat, the St Peter Port Inshore Lifeboat and HM Coastguard Helicopter were all called upon to look for the man, who was reported to be several hours later than expected.

He was located by the helicopter on the Cul de L'Autel rock, where he had swum after losing his boat.
The fisherman was winched by the aircraft and taken to Guernsey Airport before being sent, by ambulance, to the Princess Elizabeth Hospital. He was treated for hypothermia.
