Fined for cannabis resin

Tuesday 17 March 2020

A woman has been fined £1,000 for having a number of chunks of cannabis resin hidden around her living room.

Justina Mullard, 35, was being visited by Guernsey Police Officers when they noticed one of the chunks.

This led them to search the rest of the living room, where they found a number of other small amounts of the resin, hidden in things like a cigarette box, a drawer and a glass jar.

In total, the officers found 11.31g.

Mullard, who did have relevant previous convictions, was sentenced before Guernsey's Magistrate's Court yesterday. Judge Graeme McKerrell was told she had taken full responsibility for her actions in interviews with police, and had wasted no court time.

He gave her credit for her guilty pleas, although pointed out that she had been caught red handed.

"The amount [of cannabis resin] is not great but neither is it small," he said. Overall, he ordered she pay £1,000, or go to prison for 50 days in default of payment.
