Fancy keeping an eye on the States as they try and sort out the island's financial problems? Well there may be a seat on the Financial Scrutiny Panel for you.
The existing Scrutiny Management Committee - headed up by Deputy Yvonne Burford - is looking to refresh its 'Financial Scrutiny Panel'.
“The work of this panel will focus principally on identifying potential opportunities for identifying efficiencies across the States of Guernsey by using the Member’s financial skills and commercial acumen to analyse the current financial information available, including the States of Guernsey Accounts and budget reports,” said Deputy Burford.
The sub-committee already has some Deputies and members of the public on it, but with the 'major financial challenges facing the government' some new members are needed from September until June 2025 for around 20-30 half days per year.
No formal qualifications are required, but 'significant relevant experience in financial, commercial, or legal matters', is 'highly desirable'.
Interested individuals should send their CV with a covering letter, to the Scrutiny Management Committee, Edward T Wheadon House, Le Truchot, St Peter Port, Guernsey, GY1 3WH or email scrutiny@gov.gg by Friday, 14 July.
For further details call the Scrutiny Management Committee on 222043, or email scrutiny@gov.gg.
